Abstract

In this paper, the regenerated silk fibroin (SF) / nylon 6 blend filaments were prepared by wet spinning technique. The effect of coagulation condition on the maximum draw ratio of blend filament and the effect of blend ratio on the fiber spinnability of blend filaments were investigated. The order for the maximum draw ratio of blend filaments was revealed as follows: methanol > acetone > DMF, THF. While the maximum draw ratios of methanol and acetone were decreased with SF content, those of DMF and THF remain constant due to the different coagulation strength of coagulants for SF and nylon 6. One the whole, the fiber spinnability was improved with increasing SF content attributed to the strong coagulation power of co-coagulant for SF rather than nylon 6.
